Understanding the bets and free bets returns

We have found a small bookmaker who is offering bet 10 for a free 25 bet. ( we are using Betfairs 5% standard commission rate for these examples )

Qualifying bet

1. Back at Bookmaker; 10 stake odds 2.00
2. Lay at Betfair: 10.25 odds of 2.00
Generates a 25p loss

But remember that this has now generated a free 25 bet at the bookmakers.

Stake Returned (SR) freebet:

1. Back at Bookmaker; 25 stake odds 2.00
2. Lay at Betfair: 24.39 odds of 2.10
Generates a 23.17 profit ( 93% )

Stake Not Returned (SNR ) freebet:

1. Back at Bookmaker; 25 stake odds 2.00
2. Lay at Betfair: 12.20 odds of 2.10
Generates a 11.58 profit ( 46% ) but this is a really poor return on investment.

For SNR freebets you ideally need to be looking at odds of 7.0 or 8.0 or bigger. Here we have an example of a better SNR:

1. Back at Bookmaker; 25 stake odds 8.00
2. Lay at Betfair: 20.71 odds of 8.50
Generates a 19.67 profit ( 79% )

The best places to find matchable odds of 8.0 and bigger odds are:

- Football correct score market
- Half time/ Full time markets ( HT/FT )
- First Goal Scorer ( although the market isn't as much liquidity as Correct Scores )
- Horse racing ( if you are comfortable betting on the horses)
